I love building software to solve problems. I really love delivering that software to a satisfied customer. The problem is that a lot of software is delivered to dissatisfied customers. There are a multitude of reasons why that's the case, but I think it doesn't have to be that way. There is a better way to build software and that's why I'm at Improving. I believe agile methods are the answer and I have dedicated myself to helping our customers achieve better results with more effective software solutions and more effective development practices.
I graduated from Texas A&M in 2004 and joined Valtech Technologies, where I learned a lot about software, a little about poker :), and met some of the great people that are now here at Improving. I fell in love with the idea of Rural Sourcing and moved back to College Station in 2006 to participate in the building of the Rural Development Center. I joined Improving in May 2007 and I'm thrilled to be working with some of the best in the business. In July 2007 I married my wife Ellen, my best friend and favorite person in the world. We have three dogs: Emily, a four year-old lab mix (my favorite, but don't tell the others!); Zoe, a three year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix; and Diego, a puppy we adopted from the shelter right after our honeymoon in Southern California (still too early to tell what type he is, but he's gonna be a big guy!). In my spare time I enjoy playing poker, taking my dogs to the park, hanging out with friends, and working on various well-intentioned yet half-finished software projects including a (one day) open-source agile project management tool called Scrummer. I'm a GTD nerd (because improving personal efficiency is just as important as improving team efficiency) and I'm rapidly becoming a Mac zealot. |
