| My name is Susan Fojtasek – the first big question is how in the world do you pronounce that? phaj – ta –sec? Please try again. Think protégé, and then replace the P with an F, and you’ll get it right, but there will be a spelling test later.
I was born in San Antonio, and was raised in various spots across Texas. I guess that makes me a Native Texan. I started my career upon graduating from Texas A&M University, with a degree in Computer Science. I went to work at a large defense contractor, Raytheon E-Systems, where I was a software engineer for several years. I joined an internal consulting group at that company that specialized in mentoring and assisting projects with the new idea of Object Oriented Technology. After Raytheon, I joined several colleagues at Expede, a small consulting and training startup in the Dallas area, which later became Valtech. I spent many years there in many roles: initially a developer, but quickly moved towards business analyst, project/program management, and eventually the Director of Global Sourcing working with the India office. Along the way, I went back to school in the evenings to get an MBA from UT-Dallas. Most recently, I have joined a group of very talented individuals at Improving Enterprises. It is exciting to be back in the small company, start-up culture again. The fun and energy surrounding our team is hard to beat for motivation and job satisfaction! When I’m not working I enjoy activities such as watching Aggie football, cycling around the lake, hiking and basically anything outdoors, traveling, hanging out with friends & family, and going to air shows when they happen to be in the area. |
